Cuban Basil Cordial

We were in our community garden watering our vegetables the other evening and a fellow gardener said that I had to try this Cuban Basil that she had growing in her bed. I was unfamiliar with the herb and gave it a taste. It was certainly not your average Basil. It has a strong pepper and spicy flavor that that makes it quite unique. Of course I had to go home and create a cocktail!

Recipe:

2 oz gin

1 oz lime juice

1 oz simple syrup

small bunch of Cuban Basil leaves

Garnish with a sprig of Basil

Add basil and lime juice to your tin. Muddle to release the basil. Add remaining ingredients and shake with ice until cold. Double strain into a coupe and garnish. Drink cold and enjoy!
