I’m a big fan of Rye since Bourbon sometimes goes too sweet for me. The Fernet in this drink gives a nice bitter minty balance to the spicy whiskey. Love this.

Recipe:

2 oz Rye (Rittenhouse)

½ oz Fernet Pianta

¼ oz simple syrup

1 dash Angostura bitters

Garnish: Orange peel or blood orange

Add all ingredients in a mixing glass. Add ice and stir until chilled. Strain into chilled cocktail glass. Express orange peel and rub the rim.
